With the support and generosity of the Abrams Foundation, MITES is able to offer a number of different scholarships and grants to help support Career and Technical Education in and around the great state of Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, and Canada. These funds are used to help support the needs of students going into the teaching profession as a certified CTE and/or Industrial Education Instructor. They are also used to help support the needs of current CTE and/or Industrial Education Instructor's with classroom mini grants, professional development grants, as well as programs which have demonstrated outstanding quality. MITES High School Scholarship
For any graduating high school student interested in pursuing a professional career as an Industrial Arts or CTE teacher. Up to four $500 scholarships are awarded each year.
For College or University students interested in pursuing a professional career as an Industrial Arts or CTE teacher. Students may be awarded up to $1500 in scholarship money.
Students pursuing an IX, TX, or VT certification at a college or university in Michigan or Indiana are eligible to compete in the Future Teacher categories of the competition. Both categories will be judged by current and retired teachers or professors in the Industrial Technology field. Judging will take place on Friday, May 6, 2012. All entries must be registered by 12:00 (noon) on Friday.
For teachers in Industrial Arts or CTE who are looking for the funds to create new programs, shop areas, or activities for their students. Up to $1000 may be awarded for each qualifying proposal.
Sponsored by the Abrams Foundation, teachers and their students can qualify for up to a $750 grant to attend a workshop, technical session, or specialized training in Industrial Technology.
The purpose of these awards is to recognize students, teachers, administrators, and schools that provide exemplary programs in industrial technology, technology education, and career / technical education. Individual awards may be made at the elementary, middle school, high school, and career / technical levels up to $1000.
The purpose of the Destination Learning Experience Grant is to provide funds (up to $500) that will enable teachers and students to take a field trip to an industrial establishment. This grant is not intended to provide funds for student or teacher attendance to any MITES (or similar) student competitions.
The “Retired
Teacher Grant” encourages members, no longer active in the classroom, to
continue to share their expertise and experience during retirement.
