Clifford Lehner
Clif has no idea how long he has been a member of the MITES (records indicate since about 1984). His first introduction to MIES was in 1972 as student at WMU. Upon encouragement of his professors he stopped at the state convention at the Lansing Civic Center and saw a great source of talent that was overwhelming to a future teacher. He was involved when the society celebrated its 50th anniversary. He has taught two generations of students that have participated in the student project competition. Clif served as RAO for region 12 for seven years and just recently became part of the scholarship and grants committee.
Living in the central Michigan area all his life, Clif attended a rural school in North Star and graduated from Ithaca H.S. He received his bachelor degree from WMU in general industrial education and his master degree from CMU. He continued taking an additional 20 hours of IE classes at Central.
The entire teaching career for Clif has been at the Shepherd Public Schools. He has taught just about every middle school class except English, but really enjoys teaching in the shop area. He currently teaches CADD, Woodworking, Metalworking, Small Engine Repair and Auto Maintenance. He has served as district curriculum chair, faculty council member, department chair, school improvement team member, technology representative, class advisor, ISD career committee member and coached Middle School football for almost 20 years.
Outside of school Clif has been married to the same incredible Ginny for 36 plus years. They have one son, two daughters and two grandchildren (with more expected) who have made life worth living. They are active in their church serving in a number of openings. Clif has been on the Lincoln Township board as trustee and treasurer for seventeen plus years and currently in his second term as treasurer. He enjoys being outdoors working on the lawn or gardening, skiing, swimming, riding bike, or fixing things.
Special recognition for Clif has come from the MITES organization through the Program of Outstanding Quality Award, Regional Service Award and the Paul Schillings Distinguished Service Award.
