MITES State Student Competition and Professional Development Conference 

Our state student competition brings together student projects from around the state to compete in various categories from woodworking to electronics and machining. Each year roughly three thousand student projects are entered with students earning over eight thousand dollars in scholarships to college/universities, trade schools and apprenticeship programs.

At this same time we host our yearly professional development conference in which teachers from around the state can attend sessions put on by both vendors and other educators. Teachers can learn new teaching methods and techniques or learn about new equipment and how to use it effectively in the classroom/shop.

12:00pm – 1:00pm - Judges’ Luncheon –Ellison Place (Loading dock) (Presentation from Rules Committee on competition rules and judging)

12:00pm - 1:00pm - Workers’ Luncheon –Ellison Place
1:00pm - 4:00 pm - Tower/Bridge Destructive Testing – Ellison Place (will Be streamed live and recorded and uploaded to the Website)
1:00pm - 5:00 pm - Project Judging – Ellison Place (Closed to Public and MITES Members not working the Judging Area! Worker ID required!)
1:00pm – 4:00 pm - Professional Development Sessions, (see daily schedule in convention program) – Ellison Place (Beverly Suite and Dale Suite)
2:00pm - 6:00pm - Commercial Exhibits Open – Ellison Place Lobby
5:00pm – 6:00pm - Construction Competition Meeting (all teams must attend) – Ellison Place by the overhead doors
5:00pm - 8:00pm* - Student Project Viewing – Ellison Place (*Project Viewing available after ALL Judging has been completed)
5:00pm -9:00pm - Membership Social – Ellison Place (Beer and Pizza Provided, hot food provided at 5:30 and again at 6:30; cash bar) Shuttle to                                          and from the Otsego Resort provided!
